Jack Kerouac:
On the Road

Rating: * *

I found the bible of beatnik lifestyle a bit boring and a bit empty. Kerouac’s writing style is also very consuming. Nothing really happens, but he goes on and on. We are on the road, but where are we going to?
I personally thought the book was going nowhere. There was really a lack of the personal or ”spiritual” growth that I think should follow every successful journey. Instead, the characters in the book simply killed time - as does the reader. My advice: get on the road, it’s great, but read something else while at it.
