Michael Dell, Catherine Fredman:
Direct from Dell

Rating: * *

Michael Dell is the entrepreneur behind Dell computers. The book describes more Dell as a company than Michael Dell as a person - if the two can be separetd at any instance. Even as the story starts of by describing Michael Dell’s life, thoughts and ambitions, it very soons takes the perspective of the company, with Michael Dell as one of the ncessary components in the machine.
The view is more of Michael Dell the engineer than Michael Dell the entrepreneur - or even person (not to imply that engineers are not persons, even if the subject is open for debate). Michael Dell’s life is Dell Computers. He lives and breaths the company, and is most likely very happy with the way things are - he fullfills his needs for personal accomplishement with the company. But does he have a life outside the company? Judging by the book, I wouldn’t bet on it. With this in mind, the book on mighty Dell is actually mighty dull.
